PURPOSE:To attain stable working of a curved face part having a smooth curve by pressing an elastic member and a polishing sheet, pressing a magnetic head tilted at a right angle and turning the magnetic head so as to grind or polish an outer circumferential edge. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic head A whose outer circumferential edge 4 is not worked is supported by a jig 12 in a way that a recording/reproducing face B is exposed to the surface. On the other hand, an elastic member 14 is pressed to a unpolished face of a polishing sheet 13. Then the jig 12 is drive around its own rotary shaft Z at a drive speed omega3 while the face B of the head A and the sheet 13 keeps a tilt theta2 and an prescribed weight F is pressed onto the sheet 13 while the jig is moved reciprocatingly or unidirectionally in the direction S. In this case, since the elastic member 14 is distorted in the curved face at the weight position, the edge 4 of the head A is ground or polished in a curved face. In addition, the cross section shape of the curved face worked part is easily controlled to have a complicated shape by varying the rotating angle theta2. |
