PURPOSE:To attain the measurement with high accuracy quickly by applying a prescribed offset from the midpoint of two adjacent cylinders in the reverse direction respectively so as to record a signal with an equal amplitude. CONSTITUTION:Offset of -nmum, +nmum is applied respectively the midpoint 01, 02 of the cylinders C1, C2 adjacent on a magnetic disk to write a signal. In expressing the write signal as a readout level distribution on a plane of the cylinders C1, C2, curves W1, W2 are obtained. Under such conditions, the magnetic head is deviated from the substantial center lines 01, 02 respectively by -xmum with respect to the access to the cylinders C1, C2 and placed at positions H1', H2'. In this case, the readout level from the cylinder C1 is a cross point L2 between the center line 01' and the curve W1 and the readout level from the cylinder C2 is a cross point L3. Thus, a coincident point L1 of the readout level of the cylinders C1, C2 is obtained to obtain the offset xmum. |
