In a device for the distribution of rich gas in a heating wall of a top-heated group draught furnace, the distribution of the rich gas is to be improved. For this purpose, half as many rich-gas channel pairs are arranged, one above the other in the hearth of the furnace floor as there are flue groups. One set of rich-gas channels (22,24,26,28,30) which lie, one above the other, of the channel pairs are connected to a first rich-gas line (35), and the other set of channels (23,25,27,29,31) are connected to a second rich-gas line (36). The rich-gas lines (35,36) are periodically acted on alternately by rich gas. Between these lines and the channels, diaphragms are provided on the outside of the furnace. <IMAGE>
