The wiper system which serves for example for cleaning windows in motor vehicles contains a wiper arm (9) which is moved in a reciprocating manner on a carriage (6) over guide rails (4). The wiper system functions with a flexible drive driven by an electric motor. The revolving movement of the flexible drive is converted by a so-called radius lever into a reciprocating movement. This movement is transmitted to a carriage on which the wiper is attached. Using the wiper system up to 100% of the surfaces can be covered, optionally using an automatic lateral inclination means for the wiper arm. <IMAGE>
