In a process for installing windows or doors without damage into existing window frames or door frames, first of all the previous frame is removed until only a partial frame remains. Then, at specific, accurately established points, holes are drilled through the partial frame, comparatively deeply into the structural body. Subsequently, steel screws are screwed into dowels inserted into the holes and small mounting plates provided in the frame which is to be installed are fitted onto the screwed-in screws. The screws, together with the fitted small mounting plates, are then unscrewed, for the adjustment and subsequent vertical and horizontal alignment of the new frame selectively, preferably diagonally, in the direction of the new window or door frame which is to be mounted, until the frame, correctly adjusted and aligned, is retained fixedly and reliably in the structural body and is fixed in this position. <IMAGE>
