Process for treating liquid radioactive waste which contains sodium compounds, in which the liquid radioactive waste is heated and evaporated in order to generate a dry product which contains the sodium compounds and the sodium compounds are removed from the dry product by further heating the dried product in order to decompose and vaporise the sodium compounds and as a result a radioactive solid residue is achieved.
