The invention relates to a squeegee for screen printing, consisting of a squeegee strip with a lip of soft material for resting on the printing screen and of a hard elastic shim arranged on the back of the squeegee strip, the squeegee strip and the shim being clamped in a squeegee holder extending over the width of the printing screen. In a squeegee of this type for screen printing, the ink distribution on the printing image and the guiding of the squeegee on the printing screen are to be improved and, additionally, improved, reproducible pressing-on characteristics and bending rigidity are to be achieved at a constant contact angle of the squeegee. To achieve the object, provision is made for the squeegee strip and the shim to be provided in the region of their overall surfaces in the manner of composite material with two different elasticities. In this case, squeegee strips are mounted on one or both sides of a hard elastic shim in the manner of composite material.
