In a method for photographically producing large-format pictures, in which several webs of photographic material are exposed one after the other, the position and size values of the webs which in each case match one picture are determined and stored. One after the other, the webs are laid out on a plate by winding on and winding off with the aid of winding devices arranged in magazines in accordance with the stored values, and exposed. In an apparatus designed for the method, two magazines with winding devices for web-shaped photographic material are provided. The magazines, with feeding or discharging slots for the photographic material, are movably arranged on a plate in such a manner that they are offset and in each case perpendicular to the axis of the winding devices. The plate and the magazines are arranged in such a manner that they can be moved in the direction of the axes of the winding devices.
