A description is given for the electrically insulating sheathing of the connection point (68) between electrically conducting elements (76), in which a sheathing material (14) is used which has one layer (34) having a lower melting point and one layer (36) having a higher melting point. The sheathing material (14) is fixed to the connection point (68) to be sheathed in such a manner that the layer (34) having the lower melting point faces the connection point (68) to be sheathed. The connection point (68) is sheathed by heating the connection point (68) before the sheathing material (14) is arranged at the connection point (68). The heated connection point (68) softens the layer (34) having the lower melting point.
