PURPOSE:To surely discharge the air bubbles mixed in a magnetic fluid in a short time by defoaming the fluid in a magnetic field gradient obtained by arranging a magnetic force source in the vicinity of a vessel so that the magnetic field is progressively lowered in the flow direction of exhaust gas. CONSTITUTION:The magnetic field is directed as shown by H in the magnetic fluid storage part in the defoaming device, and the magnetic filed is progressively lowered toward the upper part of the vessel 1 by a permanent magnet 8. Accordingly, when a vacuum pump 6 is operated, magnetic floating force acts on the air bubbles 7 which are nonmagnetic and mixed with the magnetic fluid 2 in the vessel 1 in the flow direction of the exhaust gas, i.e., in the direction as shown by the arrow V, the air bubbles 7 move rapidly in the direction V, and the defoaming capacity and efficiency are improved. Moreover, since the magnetic fluid 2 is surely retained on the lower side of the vessel 1 during defoaming, the magnetic fluid 2 is not splashed by the burst of the air bubbles 7, and the deposition of the fluid on the upper inner wall surface of the vessel 1 and on the inner wall surface of a chamber 3 can be surely prevented. |
