A metallic insertion part, such as a roller bearing or sliding bush, is embedded into a polymer plastic mass, in a moulding tool, under injection or pressing pressure. In order to prevent the insertion part being subjected to unacceptable stress during production, a blowing agent is added to the polymer plastic mass. Once the insertion part has been inserted, the moulding tool is filled with the plastic mass, with the blowing agent additive, at a comparatively low pressure. Thereafter, a pressure is built up in the moulding tool by the blowing agent, as a result of which the plastic mass expands against the moulding tool and against the external circumference of the insertion part to form a running surface. In addition, a component produced in this manner, for example a belt tensioning roller, is proposed.
