An azo glycoside composition containing a compound represented by formula (I): <CHEM> where A represents a substituted or unsubstituted phenyl group or a substituted or unsubstituted naphthyl group; B represents a substituted or unsubstituted phenylene group; and n represents zero or an integer of 1 to 8. The azo glycoside composition is useful for measurement of alpha -amylase without interference by pigments in the blood.
