PURPOSE:To avoid the decline of printing density and the generation of uneven printing and also prevent the breakage of a heat generating element resulting from the thermal accumulation, by sequentially changing during the transfer of a recording medium an angle defined by a tangent line of the recording medium and a position where the heat generating element is placed in a thermal head, thereby to fill ink instantaneously into an emptied minute hole. CONSTITUTION:During the transfer of a film 2, eccentric cams 58 and 59 are rotated to successively move tension rods 54 and 55 in a vertical direction, so that an angle alpha of the film 2 is sequentially changed in the cycle of 1-100Hz. When the angle alpha is small, the position of a contacting point between the film 2 and an element 36 to which ink is supplied comes closer to a heat generating element 5, and accordingly the ink can be smoothly supplied to the position where the element 5 is placed. On the contrary, when the angle alpha is large, the above-described position is far away from the heat generating element 5, resulting in increase of the contact area between the film 2 and the element 36. Therefore, the film 2 and the element 36 are tightly and stably adhered to each other. Accordingly, even when there is an empty minute hole 1 discharged from the drops of ink on the element 5 at the application time of pulses, the minute hole 1 can be immediately supplied and filled with the ink. Moreover, since sufficient ink is supplied in the vicinity of the element 5, the element 5 is able to be prevented from being damaged in the early life stage thereof resulting from the thermal accumulation. |
