PURPOSE:To easily impart optimum magnetic anisotropy to a thin magnetic film by determining the ratio of the thickness of the thin magnetic film and the pattern width in a track width direction at a specified ratio in the depth direction of a head. CONSTITUTION:The thin magnetic film 10 is so formed as to have the prescribed track width in the front end part and to be adequately broad in the rear part. The film thickness (t) thereof is so determined as to increase in proportion to the pattern width W in the track width direction, i.e., to t1/W1=t2/W2=t3/W3. Since the coeffts. of diamagnetic fields in the track width direction are thereby made the same even in any positions in the depth direction 11 of the head, the magnitude of the anisotropy to be imparted to the magnetic film attains the specified value in any positions within the pattern. The effect of a heat treatment in the magnetic field is constant within the pattern even if the magnetic film pattern with which the impartation of the anisotropy is already finished is thereafter subjected to the other heat treatment. The desirable anisotropy is thereby easily imparted to the magnetic film. |
