PURPOSE:To improve strength of a superconducting material by compounding an oxide superconducting material expressed by Y-Ba-Cu-O with ceramic fiber or whisker. CONSTITUTION:For example, each necessary component is mixed so as to obtain a compsn. expressed by the formula: Y-Ba2-Cu3-O7-x, and about 10vol.% SiC whisker having about 0.5-1.0mu mean diameter and about 10mu length is added thereto and mixed. Thus obtd. powder is held at about 950 deg.C for about 5hr and heat-treated in O2 atmosphere. Obtd. powder is filled in a mold having about 30mm diameter, compression-molded under about 50kg/cm<2>. The molded product is held at about 950 deg.C for about 5hr, and heat-treated in O2 atmosphere. By this process, the strength of an oxide superconducting material is improved and the reliability of the material is improved when it is used for the production of a wire rod or superconducting coil, etc. |
