PURPOSE:To obtain a high temperature superconductor having a great current capacity by orienting superconducting powder in a direction exhibiting superconductivity by allowing the superconducting powder to be present in a magnetic field at a temp. where said powder exhibits superconductivity, then subjecting the powder to compression-molding, sintering, etc. CONSTITUTION:A compound body obtd. by mixing components for forming a perovskite type superconductor, for example, powder of Y, Ba, CuO, in specified proportions is sintered, and a superconductor is produced by pulverizing the sintered product, mixing the pulverized product, followed by compression and sintering, etc. Superconducting powder obtd. by pulverizing said superconductor, is then oriented in a direction exhibiting superconductivity by allowing the powder to be present in an appropriate magnetic field at a temp. where the superconducting powder exhibits superconductivity, for example, at the temp. of the b.p. of liquid N2. The obtd. superconductor treated by this process is discharged from the magnetic field as it is to obtain thus a desired high temp. superconductor after compression-molding, sintering, etc. the discharged material. |
