PROCESS FOR PREPARING PULVERULENT COATING MEANS BASED ON POLYAMIDES WITH AT LEAST 10 ALIPHATICALLY BOUND CARBON ATOMS PER CARBONAMIDE GROUP

The invention concerns an improved precipitation process for the manufacture of coating powders based on polyamides with at least 10 aliphatically bound carbon atoms per carbonamide group. The process comprises rapid cooling of a hot ethanol solution of the polyamide with stirring and distilling the solvent ethanol until the temperature of precipitation is reached in the range from 90 to 113.degree.C. After passing the saturation limit (about 125.degree.C), the outside temperature is kept at most 3.degree.C below the temperature of the solution inside. The solution is kept at constant temperature (isothermal procedure) during the precipitation stage by further distillation of ethanol.
