PRODUCTION OF MOLDED ARTICLE OF LOW-TOXIC CROSSLINKED ETHYLENE-TETRAFLUOROETHYLENE COPOLYMER COMPOSITION

PURPOSE:To prevent the evaporation of a fluorine compound in burning, by compounding a specific ethylene-tetrafluoroethylene copolymer mixture with an alkaline earth metal compound and a crosslinking agent, extrusion molding the obtained composition and crossliking the extrudate with radiation. CONSTITUTION:The objective molded article can be produced by compounding (A) 100pts.wt. of a mixture of (i) 50-90wt.% of an ethylene-tetrafluoroethylene copolymer and (ii) 50-10wt.% of a propylene-tetrafluoroethylene copolymer with (B) 20-100pts.wt. of an oxide or carbonate of an alkaline earth metal (e.g. calcium bicarbonate) and (C) a small amount of a compound having >=2 unsaturated double bonds as a crosslinking assistant (e.g. triallyl cyanurate), extrusion molding the obtained composition and crosslinking the extrudate by radiation.
