PURPOSE:To prevent deterioration in catalytic activity of a cathode and deterioration in cell performance by specifying the composition of a nickel-chromium alloy comprising chromium, iron, silicon, manganese, and carbon. CONSTITUTION:An electrode reinforcement is made of a nickel-chromium alloy comprising 15-25wt.% chromium, 0.5wt.% or less iron, 3.0wt.% or less silicon, 2.5wt.% or less manganese, 0.15wt.% or less carbon, and the balance nickel. Even if the electrode reinforcement is brought into contact with molten carbonate at 550-850 deg.C and exposed to an oxidizing gas atmosphere, iron is little eluded from the electrode reinforcement because it contains only 0.5wt.% of iron. Iron oxide does not clog the pores of a cathode made of porous ceramic and does not cover the surface of the electrode. Deterioration in catalytic activity of the electrode and deterioration in cell performance can be prevented. |
