PURPOSE:To exactly measure and display a liquid level by providing a means for projecting light waves on a light reflecting body positioned on a liquid surface from the upper part of a cylindrical body fixed and supported at the bottom end on the base of a storage tank and receiving the reflected waves. CONSTITUTION:The light waves (a) radiated from a light emitting and receiving assembly 11 pass a side glass 10 and a ball valve 9 and arrives at a cube mirror 5 provided to a float 6 existing on the same level as the liquid surface. The light waves (b) reflected from the mirror 5 are received by the assembly 11. The time difference from the radiation of the light waves to the reception or the illuminance difference is measured in an arithmetic circuit 16. The liquid level A of the stored liquid L is computed and is displayed on a display means 17. The bottom end of the cylindrical body 1 is fixed and supported to the base of the storage tank and is communicated at the bottom end side with the storage tank, by which the influence of the surge of the liquid surface is eliminated. The liquid level is thereby exactly measured and displayed even if the liquid surface surges. |
