PURPOSE:To enhance the oxygen absorbing capability without lowering the capacity density of a neg. electrode plate by allowing a paste type cadmium neg. electrode to contain powder of indium compound and antimony oxide. CONSTITUTION:An active substance, whose major component is cadmium oxide or cadmium hydroxide, shall contain powder of indium compound and antimony oxide. That is, the oxygen gas absorbing capability of cadmium neg. electrode is enhanced by preventing reduction of the reaction area with oxygen gas due to cohesion of cadmium active substance particles produced by repeated charging/discharging by the antimony oxide. Superposed with enhancement of the oxygen gas absorbing capability by antimony oxide, the indium compound in the active substance serves as catalyzer for reactions, that should enhance the oxygen gas absorbing capability of the cadmium neg. electrode. |
