PURPOSE:To surely produce a superconducting material having the extremely high superconducting critical temperature by extremely simple operation, by sintering blended powder of oxides, carbonates, nitrates or sulfates of Sr, Y and Cu. CONSTITUTION:Blended powder of oxides, nitrates or sulfates of Sr, Y and Cu is sintered at a temperature within the range of about 700-1,600 deg.C. This sintering is carried out as follows: previously calcining the blended powder at about 400-1,000 deg.C, pulverizing and molding the obtained calcined compact and normally sintering the molded compact at about 710-1,500 deg.C. The raw materials are preferably prepared so as to provide about (0.2-0.95):(0.05-0.8):(0.9-1.1) atomic ratio of Sr:Y:Cu in the sintered compact. Thereby a superconducting material having the high superconducting critical temperature is obtained. The above-mentioned sintered compact can be used as a target to form a thin film of the superconducting material by physical vapor deposition on a substrate. A superconducting wire can be formed by carrying out the aforementioned sintering in a metallic pipe and drawing the obtained wire. |
