The invention relates to an apparatus for clamping spherical weight onto an angling line. The apparatus, of the type comprising a housing for receiving a weight 6, a mobile knife 16 for trimming the weight placed in the housing, a moving clamp 36 for clamping the weight onto the line placed in the notch in the weight, and manual-control actuation means 52 for successively moving the knife, so as to make the notch, and the clamp, in order to clamp the weight onto the line, is characterised in that it furthermore comprises a fixed element 43 forming a backing clamp and defining the said housing with the clamp, and elastic means 37 continuously stressing the clamp towards its position of clamping the weight, so that the latter is elastically immobilised in its housing, between the clamp and the backing clamp, at least during the start of the cutting until the start of the clamping.
