PURPOSE: To prevent damage on a stern tube packing by arranging a ring with a U-shaped cross section concentric with a propeller boss inside a protective cover within a space between the stern tube and the propeller boss. CONSTITUTION: A space 7 is surrounded by a tubular protective cover 8, and its one end is securely coupled to a stern tube 6, while the other end is opposed to a propeller boss 5. The propeller boss 5 is provided with a cylindrical stepped part 11 at this point, and a ring-state gap 9 is provided between this and the protective cover 8. A U-shaped ring 10 which is concentric with the propeller boss 5 is arranged in the space 7 and opened toward the protective cover 8. A leg part 10a of on the part of this propeller boss 5 is securely fixed to the front face of the propeller boss 5. In this case, the outer end face of this leg part 10a is almost at the aligned position with the cylindrical stepped part 11 of the propeller boss 5. The dimension of the U-shaped ring 10 is set so that a string-state object like a fishing line and a fishing net entering through the ring-state gap 9 can be wound in plural layers within the cavity. |
