PURPOSE:To prevent generation of buckling and surface recesses of a stock by giving the stock a force below specific percentage of a edging force in the case of pressing both faces of the stock with a couple of press rolls. CONSTITUTION:A couple of right and left metal dies 2a, 2b are oppositely moved by draft cylinders 3a, 3b to edge a stock 4 such as a slab. A couple of upper and lower press rolls 5, 6 press the about central part of the width direction of the stock 4 from upward and downward directions to prevent buckling of the stock 4. In that case, a set force Palpha in pressing the stock 4 with the rolls 5, 6 is decided so that Palpha 0.1Pw, which is an edging force by the dies 2a, 2b. Thus, both buckling of the top part of the stock 4 and surface recesses over the total length caused by the press rolls 5, 6 are prevented to improve the product quality. |
