The invention relates to a door construction which comprises an insulating mass 3 which essentially fills the inner space delimited by a metal shell consisting of a front and a rear panel 1, 2, and, in at least two edges of the door, an edge strip 4 provided with fastening grooves 5 in order to interconnect the panels at the edges. According to the invention, the edge strip consists of an outer support strip 7 bearing against the outer surfaces 6 of the edges of the panels, an inner support strip 9 bearing against the inner surfaces 8 of the edges, and an intermediate flange 10 lying between the edges of the panels and interconnecting the support strips 7, 9.
