The subject of the invention is an opening fall-prevention device which is reversible on its support. The fall-prevention safety device comprises attachment means 4 provided in order to slide on a safety support 7 belonging to a fixed structure, means for linkage with a grip device worn by the user and means for locking the aforementioned sliding, which are sensitive to a sharp movement of the linkage means, means for separating two jaws 4 from each other so as to free them from the said safety support, characterised in that the means for attachment on a support comprise a slide with two jaws 4 for surrounding the opposite edges of a vertical safety support and with two other jaws for surrounding the opposite edges of a horizontal or substantially horizontal safety support. The fall-prevention device, which is hinged, opens, slides on a fixed safety support, fits to all fixed ladders of large buildings, wells, pilons, chimneys, tanks, drilling towers. <IMAGE>
