A protective hatch for vertical exit from an air-raid shelter has a metal dome (12) set into an opening (14) in an upper end wall (16) of the air-raid shelter, an upper dome-shaped cover (22), and a connecting sleeve (24) integral with said cover. The external dimensions of the connecting sleeve are only slightly less than the internal dimensions of the opening (14). The cover (22) has an edge region (34) protruding radially in relation to the connecting sleeve (24), whose lower surface rests on a seal (36) on the upper edge region of the recess (14) when in the closed position. A freely rotatable operating rod (40) parallel to the axis is attached to the dome (12) in the immediate vicinity of the connecting sleeve (24) and is connected to a lifting device whose lifting length is greater than the axial length of the connecting sleeve (24) so that in the open position the dome (12) can be freely rotated above the end wall (16). |
