A tiltable vertical sash window has a window frame, at least one vertically displaceable casement tiltable about a horizontal axis and guided in the window frame, and a compensating spring between the window frame and the casement; in order to prevent the or each casement from skewing in the window frame, at least four tilting stops per casement are fastened to the window frame and allow the casement to be tilted only in an exactly defined range of displacement; mounted on the casement is a stop block which, in cooperation with the tilting stops on the window frame, prevent the casement from slipping upwards in an uncontrolled manner in the tilting position.
