The telescopic cylinder (1) has a basic cylinder (2) and extension cylinders (3 to 6) as well as a piston (7). These are guided one inside the other. The extension cylinders are dimensioned at least approximately according to the same diameter/wall-thickness ratio. They have a corresponding diameter ratio, which is between 1.15 and 1.26. The first extension cylinder (6) adjacent to the piston (7) has a diameter ratio of between 1.3 and 1.5.
