NEW BIOMATERIALS BASED ON MIXTURES OF COLLAGEN, CHITOSAN, AND GLYCOSAMINOGLYCANES, PROCESS FOR MANUFACTURING THEM, AND THEIR APPLICATION IN HUMAN MEDICINE

A biomaterial comprises at least one compound consisting of an association of collagen, acetylated chitosan with a degree of acetylation between approximately 10% and approximately 40%, and glycosaminoglycanes. It is applicable in orthopedics and plastic surgery and in the production of extracellular matrices for the regeneration of nerve cells and bones and of biocompatible envelopes. It is particularly applicable to the production of an artificial skin consisting essentially of a velvet-type dermal layer obtained from biomaterials such as that described above. The process for obtaining this dermal layer consists in adding chitosan to a collagen solution, and then adding a mixture of chondroïtin 4- and 6-sulphates to the collagen-chitosan solution.
