Process for reducing the hydrocarbon emissions arising at tank farms, tanker truck filling stations and ships and plant for carrying out the process

The invention relates to a process for reducing the hydrocarbon emissions arising at tank farms, tanker truck filling stations and ships. The gas/air mixture containing the hydrocarbon emissions is sucked out of the tank vessel and partially degassed with respect to hydrocarbon compounds in a mass transfer unit. The hydrocarbon vapours separated out leaks into the mass transfer unit packing composed of chilled liquid mineral oil products such as petrol. The liquid exiting from the mass transfer unit is collected in a collecting vessel. The gas/air mixture exiting from the mass transfer unit having a reduced content of hydrocarbon compounds is mixed with combustion air and fed as working medium to an internal combustion engine which operates a cooling device which chills the packing of the mass transfer unit.
