A ship (9) having at least one electrically conductive mast (2), a shroud (6) and an electrically conductive railing (8) is provided with a discharging member (1) as protection against lightning. The electrically conductive discharging member (1) produces via connecting elements (7) a connection which can be broken between the water (10) surrounding the ship and the mast (2), shroud (6) and railing (8), without touching the ship's wall (side) (9) in the process. <IMAGE>
