The invention relates to an internal combustion engine (15) with a fuel injection apparatus having at least one injection pump (1) and one injection nozzle, in which the injection pump (1) is lubricated by drawing lubricating oil from the internal combustion engine (15) and returning it to the oil lubrication system of the internal combustion engine via a lubricating-oil return (2). The object is to prevent the contamination of a lubricating oil with low-boiling combustibles. To achieve this object, virtually all the low-boiling combustibles are separated from the lubricating oil in an evaporation device.
