A probe for measuring levels by immersion in the filling medium, in which the increase in capacitance is evaluated on a probe bar. A special evaluation circuit enables a multiplicity of electrodes to be arranged in a row in the bar. Furthermore, an evaluation circuit which performs a continuous "patching together" of the ranges of the individual electrodes mounted as sections, so that all the electrodes function as part of a continuous measurement range, and thus a multiplication of the measurement accuracy is attained. Further, an evaluation circuit for automatic compensation of variations in the dielectric constant, as occur in different filling media.
