Method for reprocessing Zn- and Pb-containing wastes

The zinc and lead content of the wastes is very largely volatilised in a rotary furnace with addition of solid carbon-containing reductants and is discharged as rotary-furnace oxide with the off-gas. The residue is discharged as rotary-furnace slag from the rotary furnace, the rotary-furnace oxide is leached with sodium hydroxide solution, the residue is separated from the solution and recycled into the rotary furnace. From the solution, lead is precipitated and separated by cementation with zinc, and from the solution, zinc is deposited by electrolysis.
