Biological response modifiers, their production, and their use in therapy or in prophylaxis.

Compounds having biological response modifying activity and their methods of production are described. The compounds have the formula: <CHEM> wherein each X is (CH2)n wherein 1 </= n </= 3; <CHEM> where R<4> is lower alkyl; CH2S; or CH2O; and R<3> and R<5>, independently, are H, fluoro, nitro, amino, alkylamino, dialkylamino, arylamino, acylamido, carboxy, azido, lower alkoxy, trimethylsulphonyl, trifluoromethanesulphonyl, or lower alkoxycarbonyl, provided that when X is (CH2)2, R<3> cannot be H; or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof.
