A sleeve for jointing two plastic pipe ends, which sleeve comprises a pipe piece 10, the internal diameter of which at the ends essentially corresponds to the external diameter of the pipe ends 13 to be jointed. The cross section of the sleeve is slightly reduced in a central portion 11 of the pipe piece 10, and each end of the pipe piece is provided with at least one staple 12 which forms a friction lock for the plastic pipe ends 13 inserted into the pipe piece. A method for producing the sleeve comprises cutting a piece 10 of suitable length from an extruded pipe 14. At least one U-shaped staple 12 is pressed in through the pipe wall at either end of the pipe piece 10 and a central portion 11 of the pipe piece has its cross section reduced. <IMAGE> |
