PURPOSE:To easily concentrate the heat of a thermal head by forming a swelled section at the end of at least one electrode of electrodes alternately introduced and disposed at a heating resistor. CONSTITUTION:A glazed glass layer 2 is formed on an alumina substrate 1, gold conductor electrodes 3a, 3b are alternately arranged, a common heating resistor 4 made of luthenium oxide is formed on the electrodes, and a wear resistant layer 5 is further printed and baked. The electrodes 3a, 3b are alternately introduced and disposed from both sides of the resistor 4, and elliptical swelled sections are formed at the ends of the electrodes 3a, 3b. A current is concentrated at the ends of the opposite swelled sections to concentrate the current flowing to the resistor, thereby improving heating efficiency and heat responsiveness. Since the swelled sections of the electrodes 3a, 3b do not have sharpened corner, a variation in the resistance value of the resistor due to the extreme current concentration effect can be suppressed.
