A flow divider valve, e.g. for hydraulic systems, comprises a housing having an inlet 50, and main and secondary outlets 51, 52 cooperating with a hollow valve member 49 slidable against spring 62 under a pressure drop across a restriction 67 between the inlet and main outlet, and a relief valve 58 slidable within the valve 49 and biased at 60 in the opposite direction to the bias of spring 62 on valve 49. A pump passes fluid from inlet 50 via restriction 67 to outlet 51 leading to an "open-centre" valve controlling a fluid motor, e.g. for vehicle steering and, when required, via outlet 52 to an " open centre " valve controlling another fluid motor, e.g. for an hydraulic lift device or vehicle brakes. Flow through the restriction moves the valve 49 to the right to open port 52 through openings 65 to the inlet. Should pressure in the main outlet rise unduly, piston valve 58 is moved to the left to relieve pressure through a port 66 in valve 49 and outlet 53 leading to the pump inlet. The valve 49 assumes a position of balance and carries a dash-pot piston 63 at one end. The valve ensures a continuous constant rate of supply of fluid to the main outlet, and fluid in excess of such supply passes to the secondary outlet.
