PURPOSE:To obtain an aluminum nitride-based sintered body capable of being directly metallized with high bonding strength without requiring special treatment by adding a sintering assistant and a binder to aluminum nitride powder, mixing and molding them, covering the molded body with a specified powdery filler and sintering the molded body. CONSTITUTION:A binder is added to a mixture of aluminum nitride powder with a sintering assistant and they are mixed and molded to a prescribed shape. The molded boy is covered with a powdery filler consisting of aluminum nitride powder contg. a sintering agent and powder of a high m.p. oxide preferably in (95-20):(5-80) weight ratio. The amt. of the aluminum nitride powder contg. the sintering agent is equal to or larger than the amt. of the above-mentioned mixture. The molded body is then sintered. A compd. of a rare earth element or a compd. of an alkaline earth metal may be used as the sintering assistant. The high m.p. oxide may be Al2O3, CaO, MgO or ZrO2. |
