PURPOSE:To treat fly ash at a low cost by installing an apparatus for dehydrating a fly ash slurry and a filtering apparatus on the downstream side of a neutralization tank. CONSTITUTION:Fly ash is dissolved in water in a dissolution tank 1 and heavy metals in the dissolved fly ash are converted into carbonic acid compds. in a neutralization tank 2 by neutralization treatment with exhaust gas passed through a fly ash collector. A fly ash slurry prepd. by the neutralization treatment is sent to a hydrating apparatus 3 on the downstream side of the tank 2 and most of the suspended solids is removed as a dehydrated cake. Water drained from the apparatus 3 is sent to a filtering apparatus 4 on the further downstream side, freed of the residue and discharged. Thus, the size of the dehydrating apparatus can be reduced.
