PURPOSE:To obtain a damper having very high damping capacity by a method wherein a skeletal body, which consists of at least one of reticulate structure, corrugated structure, honeycomb structure and woven stuff, and a viscoelastic body are compounded with each other. CONSTITUTION:A skeletal body consists of at least one of reticulate structure, corrugated structure, honeycomb structure and woven stuff. As the material of the skeletal body, metal, ceramic, plastics, natural and synthetic fiber are exampled. As the viscoelastic body, resin, plastic substance and the like having the following characteristics: the hysteresis ratio at 50% tensile distortion is 0.2 or ore, the storage elastic modulus E lies within the range 1<=E<=2X10<4>kg/ cm<2>, and the elongation at tensile break of material is 1% or more, such as uncured rubber, cured rubber and the like are exampled. Further, the skeletal body and the viscoelastic body are compounded with each other by pressing them into an integral body, piling them alternately or the like.
