PURPOSE:To approach the surface of a mirror to a liquid crystal laser by a space corresponding to the omit of a polarizing plate by forming the liquid crystal layer formed like a sheet and driven in a light dispersion mode. CONSTITUTION:A liquid crystal display panel 30 consists of transparent substrates 31, 32 arranged oppositely to each other, a transparent common electrode 33 arranged on the inside of the lower side transparent substrate 31, a thin film transistor (TR) switch matrix electrode 34 arranged on the inside of the upper side transparent substrate 32, liquid crystal molecule orientation films 35, 36 respectively arranged on the insides of the electrodes 33, 34, and a liquid crystal layer 37 arranged between the orientation films 35, 36. Since the panel 30 has the liquid crystal layer 37 to be driven by the light dispersion mode and constitution omitting a polarizing plate, the liquid crystal layer 37 can be arranged adjacently to the mirror surface of a Fresnel mirror 12 correspondingly to the omitted space of the polarizing plate, so that a projected image can be prevented from being doubled and the resolution of the projection image can be improved.
