摘要 PURPOSE:To reduce the rock-bed drilling amount by forming a thermal insulating concrete wall on the inner wall surface of a ring-shaped tunnel or trench, directly constructing a high-temperature superconducting coil inside the concrete wall, and storing a liquid coolant, thereby obviating an airtight vacuum wall. CONSTITUTION:A ring-shaped tunnel (or trench) 22 is digged in an underground rock-bed 2, and a ring-shaped superconducting coil 28 is constructed therein. An electric current is made to flow in the coil 28 to store an electric energy with the temperature of the coil 28 being lowered below the critical temperature. At that time, a thermal insulating concrete wall 24 is formed on the inner wall surface of the tunnel 22, and a liquid coolant 30 is stored inside the concrete wall 24. Whereupon, the penetration of heat from the rock-bed into the liquid coolant 30 can be sufficiently limited within the allowance. With this, the construction of an airtight vacuum wall becomes unnecessary, whereby the rock-bed drilling amount can be reduced.
