PURPOSE:To attach a camera adapter to a video camera and to produce software of stereoscopic video by permitting a polarized beam splitter to synthesize videos for the right eye and ones for the left eye, and taking advantage of the electro-optical effect of liquid crystal, thereby alternately switching the videos. CONSTITUTION:On the polarization plane 1a of the polarized beam splitter 1, an S- polarized beam SR and a P-polarized beam PR are isolated from an entering beam R for the right eye; the SR is reflected and transmitted to the outside of a system and the PR is transmitted in the direction of the liquid crystal 3. An entering beam L for the left eye is the same as the beam R. The separated SL is reflected in the direction of the liquid crystal 3 and the separated PL is transmitted and goes out of the system. Hence the PR and SL enter the liquid crystal 3. When a control signal supplied to the liquid crystal 3 is at a low level, its orientation direction changes by 90 deg.. Out of the SL and the PR passing by the liquid crystal 3, only the PR whose orientation direction is the same as that of a polarizing plate 4 passes by the plate 4. When the signal rises to a high level, the orientation direction returns to its original, and only the SL passes by the plate 4. Thus the camera adapter attached to one video camera can produce software for stereoscopic videos. |
