PURPOSE:To obtain a manual input device having high working accuracy by adding a means which produces a distance signal and a means which detects a moving speed. CONSTITUTION:A moving speed detecting circuit 81 consists of a clock pulse generating circuit and a counter and can detect a moving speed S of a manual input device 1 from the pulse interval of an input distance signal. A conversion ratio selecting circuit 82 contains a comparator which compares the speed S of the device 1 with plural different limit speeds set previously and a selection circuit which selects a conversion coefficient in response to the speed S. Thus a conversion coefficient 1/4C is selected as shown in the diagram when the speed S is lower than a limit speed S1. A conversion coefficient 1/2C is selected when the speed S is higher than the speed S1 and lower than a limit speed S2. Then a conversion coefficient 4C is selected when the speed S is higher than a limit speed S4 respectively.
