PURPOSE:To obtain a feed additive for domestic animal and fowl, having bifidus- proliferation activity and highly effective in promoting the growth of animals, etc., improving the quality of milk and meat and lowering the stench smell of excrete, etc., by using BAKUMONDO (Ophiopogonis Tuber) or saccharides extracted from BAKUMONDO as active component. CONSTITUTION:The objective feed additive for domestic animal or fowl contains BAKUMONDO corresponding to the root or tubercle of a plant of Liliaceae family, e.g. Ophiopogonis tuber or Liriope platyphylla or saccharides extracted from BAKUMONDO as main component. Since BAKUMONDO or the extracted saccharides are active to proliferate bifidus bacteria, the addition of the additive to a feed is effective in proliferating bifidus bacteria in the intestine and, accordingly, suppressing the proliferation of bacteria producing putrefactive substance. Consequently, the excreted dung or urine emits decreased stench smell and the occurrence of diarrhea and malnutrition can be suppressed.
