PURPOSE:To obtain a hair cosmetic, capable of simultaneously imparting excellent lubricity and humectant properties to the hair and having good persistence of such effects, by using a cationic surfactant and a vegetable oil containing a specific amount or more of unsaponified substances. CONSTITUTION:A hair cosmetic, obtained by blending (A) a cationic surfactant, especially one or more compounds expressed by formula I [1 or 2 of R1-R4 are 10-24C alkyl, 10-24C hydroxyalkyl or formula II (R is 10-24C alkyl or 10-24C hydroxyalkyl; n is an integer of 1-10) and the rest are 1-3C alkyl, formula III (m is an integer of 1-5; R5 is H or CH3), benzyl or cinnamyl; X is halogen or 1 or 2C alkylsylfuric acid group] and (B) a vegetable oil, especially fat and oil obtained from shea seeds containing >=6wt.% unsaponified substances as essential ingredients, having the above-mentioned effects and capable of imparting smoothness without stickiness and stiffness and moist feeling to the washed hair. The amounts of the ingredients (A) and (B) are respectively 0.1-10wt.% based on the total hair cosmetic.
