PURPOSE:To easily and efficiently concentrate and recover metallic Ru, by using specific aliphatic alpha-olefin at the time of recovering metallic Ru from a mixture of the fine grains of metallic Ru and hydrophilic solid particulates of limited water solubility. CONSTITUTION:For example, after the hydrogenation of aromatic hydrocarbon is carried out by using a mixture of metallic Ru catalyst of 40Angstrom crystalline grain size and powdered zirconium oxide and an aqueous solution of zinc sulfate, a solution in which the above mixture is dispersed is obtained. This dispersed solution is charged into an autoclave and the inside of the autoclave is substituted by N2, and then, >=5C aliphatic alpha-olefin is introduced and the above solution is agitated at and for the prescribed temp. and length of time. By this method, the fine grains of metallic Ru are allowed to adsorb the above alpha-olefin and float on the surface, so that these fine grains of metallic Ru are extracted.
